Help Validate a Fall Risk Prediction tool
VisualPT.ai is a Fall Risk Prediction tool for physical therapy patients.
We use Computer Vision (a type of AI) in your iPhone camera to perform the Clinical Test of Sensory Integration and Balance (CTSIB).
The CTSIB is the Gold Standard in Fall Risk Prediction – it’s the same test used in expensive force plate devices such as these:
- Bertec
- BodiTrak
- Biodex SD
- Neurocom
Bertec virtual surround CTSIB testing
Plus, plenty of physical therapists still use the CTSIB pen-and-paper version.
Pen-and-paper is still a wise choice since the aforementioned technologies start at $5,000 and can go all the way up to $87,000.
The VisualPT.ai iPhone mobile app is free right now (during validation testing) and we think our price will be about $50 per month, per clinic once validation testing is compete.
We need to validate that the iPhone app (available on the Apple App store for free) gives the same test results:
- iPhone app vs. Bertec
- iPhone app vs. Biodex
- iPhone app vs. BodiTrak
- iPhone app vs. NeuroCom
Would you like you help?
You’ll get a 1-year license for the VisualPT.ai app for free (a $600 value) for collecting data on subjects AND patients.
We’ve checked with our academic consultants and we do not need approval of Institutional Review Board (IRB) since the CTSIB test is already validated. We’re simply digitizing and already-validated clinical test.
We’ve already started collecting data!
Here’s our initial data showing Face Validity. The image is a little small but you can see the Equilibrium Sway (vertical axis) declines from Condition 1 to Condition 6 – as it should since each Condition is successively more difficult to maintain balance.
How Can You Help?
There are two ways you can help:
- Student Data Collection Project – many DPT education programs require data collection (a ‘capstone project’) as a requirement to graduate. Would you like to collect data thru an Artificial Intelligence tool?
- Clinical Data Collection – side-by-side with your existing CTSIB testing tool; perhaps a force plate that we mentioned above? You would be eligible for a free 1-year license to use the VisualPT.ai tool.

Virtual Student Data Collection Experience
The VisualPT.ai is partnering with schools and universities to provide a Physical Therapist Students’ Capstone Data Collection Project to Doctor of Physical Therapy students.
Your DPT students will participate with Machine Learning Engineers and Mobile App Designers to train the next generation of AI-augmented physical therapy tools.
